EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ONE ON THEIR WALL

Everyone Should Have One On Their Wall is a series of artworks produced and presented in various methods and mediums in an attempt to disseminate them widely, ensuring that they become physically present in the lives of others. This series of works culminated with the multimedia time-based work, Their Failure is Our Reward, (2022) which was included in the exhibition Rising Sun: Artists in an Uncertain America at the African American Museum of Philadelphia, (Philadelphia, PA).

Everyone Should Have One on Their Wall is a condemnation of White Supremacy and a call to affirmation of that idea through ownership and presentation of a new narrative. By having this image prominently displayed in an individual's personal space, it is a clear marker of where they stand. Too often, images of black bodies project sacrifice, martyrdom and cruelty, shifting the viewer into a sense of inactivity or voyeuristic acceptance on the matter. This series of works was conceived of in order to combat the persistence of this violent memory, inserting a new narrative with endless potential in its place.
